This is my personal website, primarily designed to tell you about my research and post unrelated photos. At the time of writing, I am a Forrest Prospect Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Western Australia, where I will be working on the role of behavioural ecology in the management of invasive ants. In 2020 I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Exeter, where I worked mainly at the interface of social evolution and sexual selection. Prior to this, I completed my PhD at UWA, which was based on the importance of relatedness and social context on male harmfulness, using the bean weevil Callosobruchus maculatus. I have never conducted any research of any kind on the beetle pictured above, I just liked the photo. If you think you might be interested in my research, would like to discuss collaborations, think you are likely to offer me a job or just have some urgent procrastinating to do, read on.

Reading is boring, Sam. Where's the video? If you're thinking, "wow, this sounds interesting, if only there were a three minute summary of Sam's PhD research in video format that I could watch on repeat," you're in luck. In 2017 I was a finalist at the UWA 3 Minute Thesis Competition and was lucky enough to be presented with the People's Choice Award. While I personally do not intend to watch the recording of this ever again, you can do so here:
